On my way down to the South I stopped in El Calafate for two nights. Once again a very touristic city with a main road where one shop for trekking equipment was next to the other. But after visiting the Perito Moreno Glacier, i know now, that it was definitely worth.
The first day I went to the shores of Lago Argentino, which is just next to the city center and explored the (small) city center. The next day I took the bus quite early to the Perito Moreno Glacier. As this is one of the only two advancing glaciers in the world (up to 2m per day), there was always something moving, some noises and from time to time also some chunks of ice came down which caused a tremendous thunder. It was possible to sit there and watch the glacier moving and changing colours for hours. So much better then watching TV…
